How dare you ,,, saying HFTs don’t provide liquidity on a consistent and reliable basis! For shame Mr. Dick 8^D
I’m not as eloquent as you but that was what I posted at the SEC site about the HFTs. I never saw them as having any incentive to act as an actual market maker thereby not living up to the credo of “providing depth and liquidity”. The funny part is that I was new to this and saw it when I posted that. Again, my lack of devine vocabulary has me saying this without tact. I believe the SEC is no more trustworthy than a typical career politician. I see the decision of the NYSE to have darkpooling as an indicator to “get it while the getting’s good” because the two year period before the Volcker rule comes to be. This indicates one thing, there never has been “consumer protection” no matter how much it has been discussed. It also indicates one other thing, there will always be ways to skirt an issue and eventually, there will be a way. So, the food for thought is,,, How will it be possibly skirted and can it be lobbied against ahead of time by someone? OK, I’ve said enough for now
